Sober Pacific Living of New Method Wellness offers equine therapy to facilitate positive, long lasting behavior changes. Equine therapy at New Method Wellness is conducted under the supervision and guidance of trained professionals that have worked with horses and also have experience in the field of addiction medicine.
Horses live in the present moment and give immediate, unfiltered and honest feedback to those around them. Interacting with horses helps people to overcome fears, build confidence, self-esteem and self-understanding. Because of their sensitivity to non-verbal stimuli, horses have an incomparable sensitivity to our feelings and an amazing ability to mirror our emotional states. Horses have an extraordinary sensitivity to emotional honesty and will signal to humans when they are being dishonest or trying to hide emotional issues.
Equine Assisted Counseling (EAC) is done by a certified counselor and an equine specialist. EAC addresses most mental health and human development needs including substance abuse. With the horses, clients can practice new behaviors in a safe and secure environment that nurtures inner healing and encourages optimal growth and development.
